Integrin Adhesions Suppress Syncytium Formation in the Drosophila Larval Epidermis

Inhibition of Wnt/β-Catenin Pathway Promotes Regenerative Repair of Cutaneous and Cartilage Injury
In the naturally stented model of ear punch injury, researchers found that Wnt/β-catenin pathway is activated most notably in the dermis of the wound bed early after injury and subsides to baseline levels by d10. [FASEB J] Abstract

STAT3 Regulated ATR via MicroRNA-383 to Control DNA Damage to Affect Apoptosis in A431 Cells
The authors report that signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) inhibited DNA damage induced by UV and STAT3 mediated upregulation of GADD45γ and MDC-1 and the phosphorylation of H2AX in UV induced DNA damage. [Cell Signal] Abstract

TAT-Mediated Acidic Fibroblast Growth Factor Delivery to the Dermis Improves Wound Healing of Deep Skin Tissue in Rat
Researchers found that that mice treated with transactivator of transcription (TAT) protein-acidic fibroblast growth factor (aFGF) had higher accumulation of aFGF in both dermis and subcutaneous tissues compared with mice treated with aFGF alone. [PLoS One] Full Article

Investigating the Potential of Shikonin as a Novel Hypertrophic Scar Treatment
Scientists indicate that Shikonin preferentially inhibited cell proliferation and induced apoptosis in fibroblasts without affecting keratinocyte function. [J Biomed Sci] Full Article


Targeted Inhibition of Metastatic Melanoma through Interference with Pin1-FOXM1 Signaling
The authors showed that the pro-proliferative transcription factor FOXM1 was elevated and activated in malignant melanoma. FOXM1 activity correlated with expression of the enzyme Pin1, which they found to be indicative of a poor prognosis. [Oncogene] Abstract

Fibroblast-Derived Neuregulin-1 Promotes Compensatory ErbB3 Signaling in Mutant BRAF Melanoma
